چکیده

Mammography is the most effective procedure for an early diagnosis of the breast cancer. Nowadays, people are trying to find a way or method to support as much as possible to the radiologists in diagnosis process. The most popular way is now being developed is using Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) system to process the digital mammograms and prompt the suspicious region to radiologist. In this paper, an automated CAD system for detection and classification of massive lesions in mammographic images is presented. The system consists of three processing steps: Regions-OfInterest detection, feature extraction and classification. Our CAD system was evaluated on Mini-MIAS database consisting 322 digitalized mammograms. The CAD system’s performance is evaluated using Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) and Freeresponse ROC (FROC) curves. The archived results are 3.47 false positives per image (FPpI) and sensitivity of 85%. Keywords—classification, computer-aided detection, feature extraction, mass detection.

Breast abnormalities segmentation using the wavelet transform coefficients aggregation

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the world. The automatic detection of masses in digital mammograms is a challenging task and a major step in the development of breast cancer CAD systems. In this study, we introduce a new method for automatic detection of suspicious mass candidate (SMC) regions in a mammogram. Methods: Mammography is widely used for the early...

An automated detection method of mammographic masses existing around thick-mammary-gland and near chest-wall regions

We have been developing an automated detection algorithm for masses on mammograms. There were the cases of missed detections, in most of which the masses existed around thick-mammarygland region or near chest-wall region. The purpose of this study is to develop an algorithm for detecting such masses based on a sector-shape mass-pattern model. After applying the new technique along with our prev...

Mass Detection and Classification using Machine Learning Techniques in Digital Mammograms

Breast cancer is one of the most dangerous carcinomas for middle-aged and older women in the world. Mammography is a detection tool that assists the radiologists in reading the mammograms. In this paper, new techniques are proposed to detect and classify the masses automatically. These techniques improve the detection and classification process. Classification of masses into benign or malignant...
